Over the next two years, teachers and teacher leader teams will plan, select curriculum, engage in pedagogy training and then teach a full-year Data Science course using the GAISE II Statistical Problem Solving Process: Formulate Statistical Investigative Questions Collect/Consider Data Analyze Data Interpret the Results

This interactive course focuses on the nature and role of culture and the interrelationship between language, culture, learning, academic achievement, and the social conditions of students’ lives. The content of culture includes values, beliefs, and expectations; roles and status; family structure, function, and socialization; humanities and the arts; assumptions about literacy and other content areas; communication and communication systems. This interactive course focuses on the nature and role of culture and the interrelationship between language, culture, learning, academic achievement, and the social conditions of students’ lives. The content of culture includes values, beliefs, and expectations; roles and status; family structure, function, and socialization; humanities and the arts; assumptions about literacy and other content areas; communication and communication systems. A wide range of topics will be addressed, including, but not limited to developing cross-cultural competency, identifying stereotyping, understanding the importance of cultural identity, and researching the wide range of cultural groups, tribal nations, and refugee communities in Utah. From this knowledge, base participants have the opportunity to design culturally appropriate learning environments and instruction by designing a lesson or unit on any topic that shows how the content of the course has influenced the re-design of their instruction and supports students' understanding of themselves as learners in a diverse society.

This course will provide teacher candidates with the knowledge and skills to assist in the identification of students with disabilities and to meet the needs of students with disabilities in the general classroom. Included in the course are: knowledge of the IDEA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; knowledge of the role of non-special-education teachers in the education of students with disabilities; knowledge and skills in implementing least restrictive behavior interventions; skills in
