Evaluation

This resource is Recommended Limited for grades K-5.  The evaluation is similar for all grades.  In 1st and 2nd grades, there is increased phonics with is necessary.  There is decodable readers in addition to another passage, so there is an opportunity to apply the phonics skill.  There is not enough phonemic awareness practice.  The instructions in the student books may be too complex for beginning readers to access without support.

,Overall, this program is thorough and provides many reading supports for teachers. The quality of literature and non fiction stories included provide variety and build background knowledge.

As with most basals, Into Reading has far more than any teacher could possibly teach. This allows educators to select what is needed for their students. Into Reading is a quality product.
