Evaluation

The text presents the Italian language and culture in a clear manner. The vocabulary is clear and consistant with state curriculum goals. There are key vocabulary sections, and lots of practice to use the language that has been learned. Some of the vocabulary lists aide students with accent placement, which is benefitial. The book covers different areas of Italy in each chapter, but not does not cover all areas.

Some of the content is not approprate for some first year students, espeically grade-level students. There are 4 pictures of statues that have full frontal male nudity throughout the book. There is picture of a fountain where women's breasts function as the fountain. Though some people may view this as art and culture, it is not approprate for young students. There is also an image of a woman running in her sports bra, which is not approprate for young audiences as well.

The book has many activities for the students to practice the language. Some of the questions~may not apply to young stude
