This textbook covers a huge range of topics- most of which are very thorough and well written. A few things found in this textbook (ex. Family Lifecycle) is not taught the same way that FACS Strands and Standards are written. With regards to reproduction and parenting, it provides information you’d never want to discuss in a Utah classroom (infertility treatments, etc.)
Book is put together and constructed well. Comes with a student workbook for supplemental instruction activities. Has no gender or race bias.
At the beginning of each chapter an essential question is asked, as well as a case study to get students thinking. Also, each chapter has links to online extension activities, objectives, ‘key questions’, and terminology. At the~end of each section, there are comprehension checks to have students check for understanding. Summaries, reviews, and assessments are included for each chapter and section.
