Evaluation

Strengths: Meets more than the 80% required by UT Strands and Standards. Text is appropriate reading level and content for 9th-12th grades. There is good diversity throughout the text. Text is broken into 6 units, each unit has multiple lessons that~can be utilized. Text includes special featurs: exploring careers, FCCLA, and food science which incorporates STEM learning. Mini labs and health and wellness tips are included.

At the beginning of each unit, chapters are described, essential questions are posed, and FCCLA tie-ins are suggested. There are e-learning opportunities for each unit. Each chapter includes objectives, reading preparation steps, content terms (with flash card building options on-line) and academic terms. Chapters~include enrichment learning, career exploration; at the end of the chapter there are summaries, vocabulary activities, a review with an online assessment capability, on-line self-assessment quizzes, core skills and critical thinking and problem solving opportunities.
