Alignment The content of this resource aligns with appropriate grade-level core standards and is current, well-researched and referenced from reliable sources. The content of this resource aligns with most grade-level core standards but will need supplementary materials to ensure coverage of all the objectives for this course. The state core is based on broad themes of geography, with examples from different parts of the world helpful in illustrating similarities and differences within a theme. However, this text is divided up into regional studies after a short general section. Although elements from the state core might be found in different parts of the text, it would be challenging to piece them together to discuss them in a more global, thematic way that follows the state core.

Scaffolding supports for these materials engage learners from various skill levels. Scaffolding supports for these materials do not engage learners.
The text makes use of traditional highlighting for vocabulary support and includes questions for students to consider. There is also audio for the text, with a good narrator. Although there are different kinds of scaffolding, it didn’t seem like there was much variety in the skill level for that support. Neither the lowest levels, or the more challenging levels seemed present. The teacher materials offer a much larger collection of ideas for scaffolding, which also address different levels of scaffolding need.
Navigation Students can navigate the material independently. Instructions are clear and understandable. The material contains instructions that are understandable and easy to navigate. Students may need educator support to navigate material. The material may be used with direct educator support but lacks clear instructions. The instructions in this material are unclear, and navigation is difficult.
The teacher dashboard is helpful. The links to different resource collections and tools are easy to use, though they are organized in three different ways on the teacher dashboard. There are a lot of teacher resources. It is easy to view them via the download button, and then very easy to assign via the assignment creation tool. The assignment creation tool seems easy to use and it is easy to add content to the lesson. The planning tool, however, was not as intuitive. Viewing the text itself was challenging because the font was small on my screen. Zooming in helped, but put the text in a scrollable window, which introduced other challenges. The online version was more just a way to move through the pages, rather than taking advantage of online navigation.

I got a Flash warning when I first opened the text, so I am not sure how much of the resources are affected by that. It may simply have been the review site that needed Flash, rather than the text itself.
