"Journeys" is recommended as a primary curriculum for University Language Programs, for teacher and student use. It can be used as a teacher resource for High School World Language programs, but it is not recommended for use by High School students.
As a curriculum for beginning students, "Journeys" is a well-developed resource. The content is up-to-date, and is appropriate for a novice learning context. It also includes authentic materials and cultural connections. The curriculum is comprehensive; it includes both teacher- and student-workbooks and additional online resources. It has enough variety to be suitable for students with varying learning styles/abilities.
"Journeys" is not suitable for all classrooms though. For example it contains a significant amount of English text, so it cannot be used in a Dual-Language-Immersion setting. While it has many resources, it suffers from being difficult to navigate for anyone not already familiar with it.
