This course is fully aligned with the National Common Core Standards, and the alignment guide provided connects to the previous Utah Core Standards, not the new ones. However, the content of this course would match our current standards. This course is paced so students go through in a specific order, and teachers do have the ability to adjust grades, but there aren’t any guides for helping students who need differentiation. The site is easy to navigate and understand. The content is organized by time periods, and the texts chosen for each one are appropriate for that time. Students are given information to help understand them as they read. This course only allows for adapting when teachers grade student submissions. The course work is scripted and set. Teachers have little to no room for adjustments. This course is fully online, and doesn’t allow for any adjustment. It cannot be used in a variety of settings. This course is fully online, so no physical books are available for review. The online course is put together well and looks nice. All that is needed is found in the course–it is fully scripted. Teachers only need to grade work and provide feedback to students. Students can opt to have information read to them, and there are translation services built in. There are no supplemental resources for teachers since the course is scripted and teachers only grade work. Each unit has a pre and post test. Lesson objectives are assessed three times each during the course, so by the end, student skill level is clearly known. Teachers have the ability to provide feedback on formative assessments and then also give summative assessments. Teachers also have the ability to allow students to retake or redo assessments.
