This textbook extensively covers many of the Health I standards. However, there are areas that are not covered adequately or consistently with Utah law. Health I teachers would be expected to supplement the text with additional material to fully cover all standards. For example, Utah Safe Haven Law requires infants be taken only to a hospital, the text suggests multiple locations are approved safe havens. There is no information including the culture of eating within the nutrition section. The book also covers sections that go beyond the standards, although not against any laws and policies. For example, there are sections on physical fitness, agility, adulting and aging, pollution and other environmental health topics, sleep (only briefly mentioned in Utah Standards) and a short section defining gender.
