SnapWords is a resource focused on high frequency/sight words. This resource was reviewed and is not recommended due to having several red flags. The following includes some of the red flags: -Lack of explicit instruction -No instruction on phonemic awareness in conjunction with phonics (blending, decoding, etc.) -Instruction encourages students to memorize whole words -Phonics instruction takes place in short “mini-lessons” -Segmenting or blending are not explicitly taught or practiced -High-frequency words with regularly spelled sound-symbol correspondences are taught as whole-word units, often as stand-alone “sight words” to be memorized -Not aligned with the most recent research or science of reading
