This book has a good explanation of the basics, but also well-designed extensions building upon the foundations. It makes it relevant for the 21st century including more contemporary art forms such as performance art, digital, web and game design, etc. The media showed has a good representation for different styles, art forms across the world, and diversity of artists. It is well laid out both pedagogically and aesthetically. The studio activities seem accessible, and connect well to the standards of Create, Respond, Connect, and Present. There are also rubrics and discussion points included for Deeper Learning. We highly recommend this book.
