Evaluation

Well rounded with respect to readable resources for students on grade level and Spanish speaking learners. The table of contents includes: Unit 1: Foundations of the American System Unit 2: The Constitution and Federalism Unit 3: Civil Liberties and Civil Rights Unit 4: The Legislative Branch Unit 5: The Executive Branch Unit 6: The Judicial Branch Unit 7: The Politics of Democracy Unit 8: Government in Action: Public Policy Unit 9: State and Local Government Citizenship Handbook U.S. Presidents Handbook Supreme Court Cases Handbook

Notably absent is a section labeled the "Bill of Rights," as a chapter heading although there are specific topics under the "Civil Liberties" section (i.e. Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Expression, Due Process Under the Law, etc.) The Bill of Rights is later listed under the Citizenship Handbook.

This resource is fundamental and basic in its approach, providing information in understandable terms. It is appropriate for students with varying abilities, although it does not go into great depth for high achieving students.
