Evaluation

This program is differentiated for students' needs. Each student takes a diagnostic test at the beginning to provide individualized instruction. It provides text based on the student's pacing and has personalization for each student. There are leveled passages for low, medium, and high readers. Integrating the vocabulary with the other elements of comprehension will help to develop students further. The reading options for students are interesting and there are audio options and detailed pictures. The program is teacher-friendly with detailed lesson plans, online support, proficient monitoring on student reports and class progress. The messaging feature is helpful to provide feedback to students, especially when being used in a distance learning environment. There is emphasis on developing the reading "muscles" in your eyes with lessons to practice skills. This program also supports writing and vocabulary. The "flash" feature of the vocabulary tool seems unnecessary and useless. Identifying the vocabulary in sentences is helpful to support student development. "Topics that Interest Me", text support and grammar check are helpful options for students to develop writing.

A few things lacking: extensions seemed minor or none existent in some places, The 4th grade and 11th grade are using the same Flash vocabulary program - this should be tailored to better align with the age of the students using it. This is only a reading and writing program, there were not any elements of phonics included. It is not in-depth enough to be a comprehensive literacy program, but is sufficient to fulfill the needs for the reading/writing components of literacy.
