Level 3 – Story 8 – Litter in the Beautiful Pines (64 pages) targets the ‘i’ consonant ‘e’ sound. The Stories Main Idea/Theme is: I Will Help the Little Forest Animals the Share our World.
The story continues with fluent sounding of digraphs and blends:’dr, sk, tr, pl, bl, sh, wh, th’ and emphasized the digraph rules. Again humor is used along with the ‘nd’ rule and the review of ‘st, sp, sk, mp, lp, lk, lf, ft, ct, nt’. It has many learning games and activities all designed to further the reading skills of this grade level.
