Level 3 – Story 6 – Something Rare, targets the sound of ‘are’ as in rare. The Stories Main Idea/Theme is: I Can Keep A Secret.

Again the reading story is in slant manuscript and clarifies confusing homonyms. It has tongue twisters for ‘ar’, are, old, ies,’ r-controlled words, fluent reading of 15 consonant blends, variant endings: ‘er, ed, ing’, root words and dropping the final ‘e’.

It features the speaking skills of retelling the story, the cloze procedure and listening for the wrong word.
