Level 1 – Story 3 – Sid and the Fig, targets the letters i, h and l. The ‘i’ leads into the ‘r, n and m’ and contains comprehension with the child beginning early to answer questions from the literal, inference to the critical level. This method of asking questions continues throughout the entire program. Every question asked is labeled with either a literal, inference or a critical level of comprehension.

Phrases are introduced which are intentionally written to include sight words to give meaning to these troublesome words.
