Description
The Experience Curriculum is a comprehensive, research-based early childhood curriculum intentionally designed to meet the developmental needs of children ages 3–5. Rooted in a whole-child philosophy and guided by national and state standards, the curriculum ensures young learners are prepared for school and lifelong success.

Alignment with Utah Core Standards for Early Learning (Ages 3–5)
Experience Curriculum is fully aligned with Utah’s Early Learning Core Standards across all eight content areas:
English Language Arts
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies
Physical Education
Health Education
Fine Arts
Lifelong Learning Practices

Through thematic, play-based units and developmentally sequenced learning objectives, the curriculum offers rich opportunities for children to engage in purposeful exploration and skill development. Each activity is intentionally mapped to specific Utah benchmarks, ensuring compliance with the Preschool Curriculum Rubric—2025 and the state’s expectations for instructional neutrality, inclusion, and quality.

Alignment with Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF)
The Experience Curriculum is also aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF), addressing all five central domains:
Approaches to Learning
Social and Emotional Development
Language and Literacy
Cognition
Perceptual, Motor, and Physical Development

Using an integrated approach, the curriculum supports Head Start’s mission of fostering school readiness by embedding skill development into daily routines, project-based learning, and intentional play. Materials and strategies are inclusive and adaptable, allowing educators to individualize instruction for children with diverse needs, including those in Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

Developmentally Appropriate and Culturally Responsive
Grounded in child development theory and responsive to a wide range of learning styles and cultural backgrounds, the Experience Curriculum ensures that all children—regardless of language, ability, or background—are engaged, supported, and challenged.

By aligning to both Utah and Head Start frameworks, Experience Curriculum empowers educators with a flexible, standards-aligned tool that promotes high-quality early learning environments.
