RedThread Literacy is composed of two integrated components—RedThread Foundations and RedThread Knowledge—designed to support comprehensive, standards-aligned literacy instruction for students in grades K–8.

RedThread Foundations is designed for students in grades K–5 and focuses on the development of foundational literacy skills. Instruction is explicit and systematic, with an emphasis on phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Daily routines include scripted lessons, decodable texts, warm-ups, and structured practice to ensure students build essential skills through teacher-led instruction and independent application.

RedThread Knowledge spans grades K–8 and builds students’ content knowledge and comprehension through rigorous texts, project-based learning, and writing tasks. Instruction is thematically connected to content areas and emphasizes vocabulary development, text analysis, and meaning-making across multiple texts and topics.

Together, RedThread Foundations and RedThread Knowledge offer a cohesive instructional experience that aligns with the science of reading and supports literacy growth through structured routines, engaging materials, and research-based practices.
