Math 1 students are developing greater number sense and building increased operational fluency. This course aligns with state standards to focus on extending number recognition and writing through 120 and addition and subtraction within 20, with an emphasis on solving story problems. Students also learn about place value in two-digit numbers, adding two-digit numbers, and subtracting multiples of ten. In addition to this work with numbers and operations, the course introduces how to display and analyze data and continues to develop skills involving time, money, measurement, and shapes.
