CATCH Health Ed Journeys is a comprehensive K-8 health education curriculum designed to build foundational health literacy and lifelong wellness skills across key content areas including nutrition and physical activity, physical health and hygiene, mental health, substance misuse prevention, and injury and violence prevention and safety. Organized into grade bands and delivered through a six-unit (K-2, 3-5) or five-unit (6-8) scope and sequence, the curriculum includes age-appropriate lessons that emphasize skill-building and real-world application. The curriculum also includes access to the CATCH Healthy Smiles oral health program for grades K-2 and the nationally recognized, evidence-based CATCH My Breath vaping prevention program for grades 5-12. These supplemental programs are integrated within the Health Ed Journeys platform.

Accessed through a user-friendly, teacher-facing online platform, each lesson includes presentation slides with a slide-by-slide script, guiding questions, engaging activities, student activity sheets, and formative assessments. A variety of summative assessment options are available for each unit, along with student self-reflection and personal goal setting. Lessons are designed to be flexible – delivered in one class session or broken into 10-minute “bite-size” segments – and include physical movement activities to reinforce content and support whole-child learning.

Health Ed Journeys frames health as a lifelong pursuit encompassing the Mind, Heart, and Body. Students explore how social and cultural factors impact health and are encouraged to think critically about how to make healthy choices in their own lives. The program also emphasizes family engagement through interactive activities like the “Journey Postcard” reflection and the “Are You an MVP?” Family Game Show. Teachers are supported with strategies to accommodate a wide range of learning abilities, and materials are accessible across digital platforms and adaptable for diverse student needs. Curriculum licenses also include access to the CATCH Coordination Kit, designed for school wellness teams as a step-by-step guide to creating a healthy, supportive school environment that extends beyond the classroom.
