These unillustrated reading passages help students focus directly on decoding strategies for word recognition and meaning while comprehension is developed through visualization and other comprehension skills. After reading and answering questions about these passages, students complete a skill-specific graphic organizer in the workbook. After each Introductory and Reinforcing Lesson, students complete one or more Independent Practice activities working on decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
