This course will provide support for the Spanish DLI teachers to implement the DLI program by providing ongoing DLI training on updated practices and resources. This course will provide support for the Spanish DLI teachers to implement the DLI program by providing ongoing DLI training on updated practices and resources. This training is sequentially aligned to the Professional Growth Trajectory and therefore provides differentiated content for “new” and “experienced” teachers.

New Teachers: During the winter PL sessions, teachers will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding and skills to implement two new instructional strategies introduced in the Fall: Extended conversations and the Four-Square Writing methodology. Teachers will also be introduced to the key aspects of Special Education in the DLI program and the use of the SPR as a formative monitoring tool.

Experienced Teachers: will further their understanding of the Counterbalance methodology through explicit modeling and collaborative development of effective activities across the four faces of the methodology. Teachers will also be introduced to a new instructional protocol for implementing the use of writing rubric. In addition, teachers will engage in an activity to reinforce the criteria for effective classroom walls and will review the STAMP national data.
