This is a self-paced curriculum that covers basic Internet navigation, working with text, and navigating the world of braille displays. The curriculum is nicely laid out for you to follow along with and there are some well done practice activities as well as data collection sheets for you to utilize. If you need a thought partner on other activities or how to implement different ideas for screen reader instruction, Quintin Williams can meet with you on a consultation basis to provide ideas and suggestions for additional activities and concept development strategies to enhance the Eye-T program.

In this training module, participants will learn to use iPad apps to teach basic Voiceover gestures for both elementary school-aged students and older users. In addition, they will learn which apps can be used to extend their students’ knowledge of using Voiceover gestures to utilize audio material as well as practicing academic skills such as mathematics and phonics.

In this training module, participants will learn how to pair a Bluetooth switch to an iPad, as well as how to utilize two-step switches. A variety of iPad apps will be introduced and explained. In addition, the topic of determining the most appropriate switch for your student will be covered.

In these sessions, we will cover aspects of the BrailleNote Touch Plus to encourage independence and proficiency in using the devices to their fullest potential. This will include basic orientation, system navigation, folder and file management, applying settings, connecting to the Internet, keeping devices updated, word processing, and math and calculation topics.

In this training module, participants will learn how to create braille documents, translate printed documents to braille, and emboss said documents. We will go over paper settings and different translation levels, as well as many other settings specific to Duxbury software. We will also cover installing embosser drivers and ensuring that Duxbury is pointed to the correct embosser so you can provide quality braille to students.

In this training module, we will cover navigating bookshelves and system menus on the Victor Reader stream. We will also discuss getting books loaded on to the book player using multiple methods. We will cover adding a wireless network and accessing built-in web radio and podcasts and so much more. We will also cover Bookshare and the difference between having an individual account as well as a school sponsored account and what that means to your students for accessing Bookshare content.

In this training module, participants will learn to teach their students how to set up JAWS so that they are prepared to use it. In addition, they will be able to teach their students to adjust commonly used JAWS settings so they can more seamlessly utilize the screen reader as they prefer. Lastly, they will learn basic commands to check for Windows system settings so they can properly manage their PC using their screen reader.

In this training module, participants will learn to add headings and alt-text to Microsoft Word and Google Docs. This is a skill they can utilize to adapt print files for their students. They will receive access to resources that they can share with district personnel in order to provide more accessible content to visually impaired students who use a screen reader.

In this training module, cohort participants will learn to teach students to navigate File Explorer and the Save As dialog box to manage files using JAWS or NVDA. They will also learn how to teach correct cursor placement in order to edit text with a screen reader. Additionally, they will learn to teach their students to use basic formatting commands, as well as adjusting font style, size, and highlighting. Resources for teaching students to insert tables and images will be provided, as well as creating lists and using spell check.

In this training module, participants will learn to teach their students to upload files from a Windows-based PC into their Google Drive. They will then learn to teach their students to use correct cursor placement while using a screen reader as well as how to edit text by selecting, copying, cutting, and pasting. In addition, they will learn to teach their students to format their Google Docs as well as adjust the font style, size, and text highlighting/emphasis. Creating lists, using spell check, and navigating the menu will also be addressed.

In this training module, participants will learn to teach their students how to set up Gmail to more seamlessly interact with their JAWS or NVDA screen reader. In addition, they will learn to create labels or bundles, move messages to labels or the trash, and retrieve messages from the trash. They will also learn how to teach their students to reply to messages, what the difference is between a courtesy copy and blank courtesy copy, and how to compose such messages.

In this training module, participants will learn to teach their students how to set up JAWS so that they are prepared to use it. In addition, they will be able to teach their students to adjust commonly used JAWS settings so they can more seamlessly utilize the screen reader as they prefer. Lastly, they will learn basic commands to check for Windows system settings so they can properly manage their PC using their screen reader.

These sessions will help learners become proficient in navigating Google Drive, locating folders and files, and managing their drive efficiently. Learners would also be able to move documents around, make copies, share documents, and add collaborators.

In these three sessions, we will cover ideas on how to best serve Multiple Disability students that might be low vision, CVI, or completely without sight. There will be lesson theme ideas given and also solutions from the ALMC discussed as ways to always be prepped for sessions with learners who fall under this profile. 3D printing will be discussed during the last session so folks will understand how to leverage local maker spaces in a pinch.
