This course is designed for athletic administrators, directors, principals, and leaders who supervise school athletics at the middle school and high school level of sports. Participants will have a complete understanding of the Utah Physical Education Core Standards, Portrait of a Graduate, and will make connections to the importance of these foundational guides for instruction and coaching the student athlete. This course is designed for athletic administrators, directors, principals, and leaders who supervise school athletics at the middle school and high school level of sports. Participants will have a complete understanding of the Utah Physical Education Core Standards, Portrait of a Graduate, and will make connections to the importance of these foundational guides for instruction and coaching the student athlete. Athletic administrators will be able to design tools for students to show competency of the physical education core standards, design supports for coaches in instructional strategies, and develop practices in athletics that promote ideal characteristics of a graduate. Participants will also be able to demonstrate and promote professional ethics of connecting education to athletics for issuing LEA graduation credit for Physical Education courses.
