Accurate attendance is important

-Uniform Plan at Jr. High Building

??????Pink Slip-thank you for marking

??????90% goal for free dress day

??????Share Ideas for tracking via email to Admin.

??????Keep the process fresh, by changing topic

??????Positive reinforcement for desired behaviors

-E-Hall Pass

??????Passes can be blocked during a specific time period

??????Example: first and last 5 minutes of each class

??????Could be beneficial during attendance taking time

??????Block would be reasonable- passes technically should not be issued the first 15 min.

??????Flash pass/teacher override?

??????Look at new updates on the right side of the application

-Communication

??????Professionalism with ease of communication-can be easy to blur the line of teacher/friend

??????Apps. with electronic communication make it easier

??????Always include parents with communication

??????Always use school approved apps.

??????If possible, make it a formal post for all students, instead of individual communication

??????More important what a parent perceives as the tone of the communication

??????If students are emailing, reply with CC to parents

??????Way to protect ourselves, from misunderstanding of intent

-School Improvement Plan

??????Accreditation 2 years ago

??????Identified ideas for improvement

??????Reviewing these areas periodically to make sure that we are showing progress

??????Survey participation-low response this year

????????????Hard to know if it worth making a plan with limited information

??????Request to make reading level of survey more accessible for the students

??????Identified that surveys were not completed due to overwhelm with new curriculum & trainings

??????Surveys were saved for the WAAG day, then had a meeting and then it was forgotten

Notes from WAAG 11/14/2023:

Welcome!

Professional Development and Training Coverage
Include DLI coverage
Hard to have so many people gone- be aware of when many people are gone
Classes are the priority over Professional Development
If you don’t have coverage you can’t go
Find a rotation so everyone gets a chance
Classroom Observation Form
Parents want to see multiple classes and emailed teachers directly
Include admin if a parent reaches out
The parent must fill out a form to come visit the classroom
i. They can only come 1 classroom once per term.

ii. Admin will work to find the proper plan

If you want a parent to come, have they come to volunteer in the class with out a form
i. If you have them volunteer they DO NOT have to fill out the form

Citizenship and the Spain Trip
Students creating false reports to get other student kicked out of the Spain trip
Trackers have been handed out to some 9th graders (Kim emailed out the Trackers and those on trackers)
i. Spain trip student have to have an S in every class in order to go to the trip

ii. They will use citizenship to look at application for the 8th graders going the following year

iii. Students fill out the tracker and you sign that it’s accurate

iv. After 2 weeks of good marks on the tracker the citizenship grade will be raised one level

For example, If they have a U, the student work after 2 week of good marks. They would be raised to an N. After 2 more weeks they can be raised again
We want to standardize and review the citizenship expectations when going over citizenship for all Jr. High teachers
Hope we can utilize this for special circumstances to support students achieve ROAR behavior in the future
Aspire Citizenship: Log
In the gradebook, you can define citizenship points: for Junior High, 5th and 6th
i. Starting point is where all students start at

ii. Define the citizen points H, S, N and U

iii. Define citizen items: they are different categories under ROAR

Utilize ROAR as a category to award positive behavior during in class
Then you can add behaviors (like Tardies) to the ROAR categories.
Those comments can explain why that will bring the citizenship down
This will create a date log of how each day was in class
This would be able to document BEST and WORST moments and they can read the comments and dates so they can understand how they got to that citizenship grade
iv. This is so helpful to show the log of data- more information is helpful for admin, Spain trip, Parents, etc.

v. Those who have consistent low citizenship may be put on trackers

Uniforms
It has been going phenomenal
Make sure to get the pink form on the magnet
Peer tutors will pick up each class period
Have the student help remind you, but Teacher should fill it out
Cell phone
Tracker cell phones
Students say some teachers allow cell phone
Cell phones are still not allow
i. Go over the cell phone procedure again

ii. Change citizenship

iii. Email and call home

iv. Then involve the Admin if it’s still a problem

No phone even for music
Thank you! We’re trying to make it safe for kids

Thank you!

??????Administration will support solving the problem without the cameras

??????Can be used for professional development-when requested by the teacher

-Uniform Tracking

-SCIP School Improvement Plan

Are you aware that we have a school improvement plan? We do and we often refer to our plan as S.C.I.P. or SCIP, which stands for School Continuous Improvement Plan. Our SCIP consists of three overarching goals which we are on track to accomplish by 2027.

NDPA will implement an annual, systemic, and systematic continuous improvement plan that supports student learning, teacher growth, and operational sustainability.

NDPA will formalize and document what we do and how we do it to ensure long term sustainability.

NDPA will implement a cohesive curriculum selection and review process for all academic areas including a rubric to measure alignment to standards and best practices.

You may notice that none of our goals directly mention students. These goals are large umbrella goals that will directly impact all students, families, and the employees of NDPA. Each month we will highlight a section of our SCIP* and share with you how these goals are improving your student’s overall experience at NDPA.

  • School Continuous Improvement Plan

Next month: How YOU Helped Create Our SCIP*.

    Plan in full: https://northdavisprep.org/uploads/document/attachment/433/SCIP_5_Year_Plan.pdf

    -Each team/area:

Over the three years, will get a formal and thorough review. September will be Kindergarten and second grade. Administrators do most of it, with teacher input.

    -Calendar:

Next week is not a formal WAAG, it will be the book review of “First Days of School”

Book Study Outline for "First Days of School"

    -Safety Review
