Teachers will learn the importance of systematic phonics instruction and word work. They will become familiar with a recommended scope and sequence of instruction for students in kindergarten through 6th grade. Additionally, teachers will learn how to deliver phonics and phonemic awareness using the Fundations program and how it correlates with LETRS training. In this training, we have a focus on tier II intervention. Each session, participants will study the objectives and lessons for the following 4 weeks of instruction. They will make specific plans for their grade level by reflecting on the previous 4 week's instruction and assessment to ensure student learning and applying the methods they learned from LETRS training. They will also develop Tier II plans for students they have selected as their focus for the LETRS training.
