Granite School District will mentor and support teachers in the five Foundational Teaching Skills: Lesson Design, Lesson Delivery, Student Engagement, Behavior Supports and Classroom Culture. Granite School District has aligned the coaching efforts of all departments to support and retain teachers while using a common approach focused on the Five Foundational Teaching Skills. Mentors will receive state required training through: Fall, Winter, and Spring Mentor Academies, Provisional Teacher Meetings at the school with content and materials provided by the Teacher Onboarding Department, and offer support through walk-through observations twice a year. Mentors will also facilitate "additional activities" for each teacher they mentor including: Collaboration Logs, Non-Evaluative Observation and Reflective Conversation, Video Analysis and Half-Day Teacher Observations.
