This course is designed to develop a solid understanding of deep learning pedagogy and to provide a hands-on approach to creating a classroom where deep learning is the cultural norm. This course is designed to develop a solid understanding of deep learning pedagogy and to provide a hands-on approach to creating a classroom where deep learning is the cultural norm. There will be two book studies and various article reviews. The homework will involve reading assignments and writing reflections on each section of assigned reading. The course will have a strong emphasis on classroom discussion/discourse and specific questioning strategies, as well as providing ample time to practice. The course will also study various teaching methods that lend themselves well to deep learning (PBL, authentic literacy, Socratic seminar, debate formats, etc.)
