This course introduces elementary and early education teachers in the area of art education. It is designed to help participants acquire knowledge of the visual arts and develop creating and responding skills necessary for implementing a balanced or comprehensive art curriculum at the elementary level. The student will gain knowledge of facts, generalizations, and skills related to content and methods of inquiry in the art domains that comprise a comprehensive visual arts education-art production (studio), art criticism, art history, aesthetics, and visual culture. The student will apply essential art knowledge and skills to develop inquiry-based pedagogy and methodology appropriate to elementary children.The training provided will prepare students for the elementary arts endorsement. Co-Requisite: Participants must have access to a classroom of students in grades K-6 to complete the assignments.rnFor Elementary Visual Art Specialist Endorsement this course must be taken for SUU Continuing Education Credit.
