Our goal is for teachers to go back to their schools with the first 10 days of school completely planned. The course includes professional development on small group instruction, whole group reading instruction, writing, reading and writing assessments, reading interventions, and management techniques. This course will instruct using the gradual release of responsibility in each area of the literacy curriculum thus helping teachers to learn this educational construct as well. This course requires new teachers to complete a coaching cycle with their instructional coach on each area of the literacy curriculum. This course also requires teachers to participate in a focused observation/collaboration with a teacher on their grade level.
