The Communication Disorders Training will provide instruction/training to both Speech Language Pathologists and Bachelor Level Speech Language Technicians in the educational and therapeutic aspects of Communication Disorders. The Communication Disorders Training will provide instruction/training to both Speech Language Pathologists and Bachelor Level Speech Language Technicians in the educational and therapeutic aspects of Communication Disorders. Training will also include District and State Policies and Procedures, Utah Teaching Standards and Core Curriculum Standards, Special Education Rules and Regulations, etc. for staff working within the school setting. Monthly training will be provided by a variety of professionals on various areas of communication disorders (articulation, language, fluency, augmentative communication, ELL, behavior management, etc.). Training will also include current evidence based research information concerning evaluation tools, programs and interventions. To address the needs of the classroom, the training will also include strategies for aligning communication services with student educational needs to enable them to access the core curriculum. Materials, etc. will be provided for implementation into current speech programs. Each month’s training will require an assignment to apply what has been learned and provide feedback on that implementation and how materials and training improved student performance.
