Granite School District will mentor and support teachers in the five Foundational Teaching Skills: Lesson Design, Lesson Delivery, Student Engagement, Behavior Supports and Classroom Culture. Granite School District has aligned the coaching efforts of all departments to support and retain teachers while using a common approach focused on the Five Foundational Teaching Skills. Mentors will receive state required training through: Fall, Winter, and Spring Mentor Academies, Provisional Teacher Meetings at the school with content and materials provided by the Teacher Onboarding Department, and offer support through walk-through observations twice a year. Mentors will also facilitate "additional activities" for each teacher they mentor including: Collaboration Logs, Non-Evaluative Observation and Reflective Conversation, Video Analysis and Half-Day Teacher Observations.

This course is designed to provide Special Education Preschool educators the tools and trainings they need to ensure a productive, safe, and thriving learning environment. This course is an ALTERNATIVE to taking a PRAXIS exam to receive an associate educator license.

Educators receive training and instruction in the following areas:

Some trainings are provided by USBE while others are through partner organizations. Participation and progress through the various steps and requirements will be tracked via this course using small quizzes and assignments. Modules do not need to be completed in any particular order, but all modules must be completed.

Remember you also need to complete Special Education Law Training (18 hours).

Amplify Native Voices in the Classroom is an asynchronous and interactive online course developed by the BYU ARTS Partnership. The course includes approximately 15 hours of instruction, two projects, and several discussion board activities. By the end of the NACI PD course teachers will be able to

• Honor and analyze their own culture and Native American cultures by creating a [artistic artifact] that explores culture and identity;
• Empathize with Native American Tribes in Utah by reflecting and synthesizing what they learned while exploring interactive timelines that represent the past and present context of each socially and politically distinct tribe
• Select accurate and authentic resources by practicing strategies for identifying culturally responsible resources
• Articulate their own principles/framework for culturally responsive teaching that elucidates the connections they have made between their own culture, their student’s cultures, their teaching practice, and the NACI model through a written reflection, artistic work, or video presentation.

Each course will be moderated by a facilitator from the BYU ARTS Partnership Leadership Team. You are given one year to complete the course. The suggested completion time is four months.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Macro-economics will be the main focus of this class, but micro and macroeconomics co-exist and compliment one another and there will be some blending of topics within this course. This online course will incorporate elements from the Annenberg Media program: Economics U$A: 21st Century Edition. We will also be looking at many resources and videos from around the Web while introducing you to methods that will help you develop your own classroom applications. This course will explore economic history, theory, and practice through case studies and interviews with Nobel-prize winning and major economists. This course will provide a solid foundation for teaching the concepts covered in high school economics courses. In addition to defining economic concepts and outlining modern economic theory, the programs review the national standards for economics education and provide effective lesson plans and classroom strategies. These online USBE CANVAS courses have been designed for active educators who are working on fulfilling the requirements for specific social studies endorsements. While the courses are not completely self-paced, they are asynchronous. Coursework unlocks weekly, so that the participants engage in the course material as a cohort, one week at a time. Educators can work on the course material when convenient within each week of the course.
