This course focuses on the key components of content literacy, including word study, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, explicit instruction metacognition, content knowledge building and writing. This course also incorporates previous course work, including review of Bloom’s Taxonomy e.g., knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation hierarchy, learning styles, multiple intelligences, and KWL strategies. This course focuses on the key components of content literacy, including word study, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, explicit instruction metacognition, content knowledge building and writing. This course also incorporates previous course work, including review of Bloom’s Taxonomy e.g., knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation hierarchy, learning styles, multiple intelligences, and KWL strategies. Practical, hands-on, individual experience will be provided for teachers to work with their subject-specific core curricula along with strategies for embedding literacy into their curriculum.
